YOUR VISITS

These are usually spaced a week apart to give you time to work on exercises and make adjustments or changes according to new information learnt during your visits.

Your first visit:

A) Your first visit to HeadWorks Physiotherapy for TMD will take 50 minutes, booked in one-hour slots. The fee for this visit is $140. An initial visit may sometimes not take up the full 50 minutes. This is because sometimes the assessment takes less time, but it is still a full assessment. This visit is broken down into five parts:

  1. Subjective assessment: you will be asked several questions to help identify the cause(s) and source(s) of your current symptoms
  2. Objective assessment of TMJ: this is done according to the Research Diagnostic Criteria for TMD and Orofacial Pain.
  3. Objective assessment of posture, neck/upper back/shoulders
  4. Discussion regarding assessment findings
  5. Treatment plan
  6. Education regarding how to look after your jaw, and one exercise to do

B) A Myofunctional Therapy initial visit takes 75 min, and the fee for this is $190. The visit is basically similar to the TMD initial visit. Sometimes it may not take the full 75 minutes to complete a full assessment. In addition, pictures will be taken of specific pertinent views.

Subsequent visits:

These will take 40 minutes, and are booked in 45 minute slots. The fee for these visits is $140. At these visits, we:

  1. Gather information regarding the last visit
  2. Review exercise and education
  3. Re-assess and take measurements if necessary
  4. Treat according to re-assessment findings
  5. Progress or add to exercises

Subsequent Buteyko and myofunctional therapy visits:

These are booked as Physiotherapy subsequent visits.
These will take 40 minutes, and are booked in 45 minute slots. The fee for these visits is $140.

  1. Gather information regarding the last visit
  2. Review exercises
  3. Distribute equipment/props for next set of exercises (for myofunctional therapy)
  4. Teach and demonstrate, if necessary, the next set of exercises.

Extended Sessions:
These 55-minute sessions, booked in one hour slots, are normally for myofunctional therapy and TMD treatment combination appointments. A number of TMD clients also undergo myofunctional therapy, and an extended session combines two therapies into one session.
The fee for an extended session is $190.

Tele-rehab Sessions:
These 25-minute sessions are booked into half-hour slots, but may take less time, depending on the topic. These cannot be booked for initial visit consultation appointments.
Please use a proper screen or monitor and have proper lighting. Cell phones are not preferred.
The fee for tele-rehab sessions is $95.
